Speaking
Andrew McAuley's
presentations encompass two decades of mountaineering, sea
kayaking, and outdoor adventure in the most remote
corners of the globe. Andrew takes you on a
fascinating journey of
outdoor adventure with stunning images, video footage,
and music.
There are many
parallels between the skills
required for success in business and the skills required
to climb a mountain or paddle a kayak across a rough and
dangerous ocean. Andrew draws on these parallels using
images and anecdotes from his success on some of the
world’s most difficult and remote mountains, including
first ascents of virgin mountains in the Karakorum Range
in Pakistan, first ascents of storm-lashed peaks in
Patagonia, high altitude mountaineering in the Himalaya, speed ascents of both Mt Cook and Mt Tasman
in the same day in New Zealand, and many more. His
kayaking achievements include a non-stop paddle directly across the middle of Australia’s
treacherous Bass Strait in 35 hours during 2003, and
a direct kayak crossing of the Gulf of Carpentaria –
paddling 530km across a rough ocean in six an a half
days, sleeping in his kayak each night!
Andrew’s
talent for captivating audiences with his expedition
experiences and amusing anecdotes will leave you
inspired and motivated to achieve more in your chosen
pursuit. In particular, the relevance to the
business world with themes of leadership, teamwork,
attention to detail, and meticulous preparation and
training are expressed with subtle but powerful messages
during the fascinating journey of Andrew McAuley’s lifetime of adventure.
